Donald Trump was recently convicted on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records. This is the first time in history that a former U.S. president has been indicted for a crime.
It’s difficult to accurately type a person who has become such an unforgettable persona. Trump is strongly etched in the public’s mind. He is a character in his own right.
Trump has been typed as an ENTJ and ESTJ before. However, I am certain that he is an ESTP.
Don’t believe me? One of the surest signs that Trump is an ESTP is that he usually gets away with everything.
Read on to find out how ESTPs like Trump get away with everything.
Still, ESTPs sometimes find that their days are numbered. Just like Trump, they may find that their stroke of luck has run out at the worst possible time.
If you are an ESTP, here’s what you have to do to keep your luck flowing!
1. Spontaneous and Uninhibited
ESTPs are spontaneous and uninhibited because their lead function is extroverted sensing (Se). This function allows them to have a strong impact on their physical environment.
Extroverted sensing (Se) motivates them to take many risks. The unofficial ESTP motto is, “High risk, high reward.”
They appear lucky because enough of their risks return a good investment. These cover up for the ones that don’t.
What appears to be luck is really just the ability to get up immediately after they fall.
ESTPs are the life of the party. They sail through life and crowds with an ease that leaves everybody charmed and envious.
They are the daredevils who never die. They walk life’s tightropes with a grace that cannot be bought!
The essence of extroverted sensing (Se) is sensory stimulation. Here’s how it manifests in Trump’s life:
Trump’s Extroverted Sensing (Se)
- He’s taken many personal, political, and business risks.
- He openly displays magnificent wealth. BBC described him in his pre-presidential days as, “America’s most flamboyant billionaire.”
- Throughout his life, he’s enjoyed the company of very beautiful women who are often models, some of whom he’s ended up dating or marrying.
- He is obsessed with gold. The interiors (and exteriors!) of his properties are swathed in golden designs and often use actual gold. It’s become his brand.
2. Pulls No Punches
ESTPs have introverted thinking (Ti) as their second function. Picture a maze. Introverted Thinking (Ti) will find the shortest way through.
ESTPs are able to cut right to the root of the matter. Because their lead function is sensory and not intuitive, they don’t need to verbalize their thoughts to act on their decisions.
They simply modify their actions (Se) in line with these decisions (Ti). This directness adds to the appearance of ease that they project.
Trump’s Introverted Thinking (Ti)
- Trump’s decision to run for president was widely lampooned because nobody believed that a former reality TV show host could be the head of state. He forged ahead anyway and became the president.
- He used unique techniques such as humor to capture political audiences. Introverted thinking (Ti) combined with extroverted sensing (Se) is often humorous, inventive, and effective.
3. Infamous & Polarizing
Even ordinary ESTPs tend to garner a level of fame, renown, or notoriety in their local surroundings. That’s because they are always up and about.
Their lead function (Se) gives them nearly unlimited energy. It’s often mirrored by their third function, extroverted feeling (Fe), which gives them the ability to effortlessly connect with others.
The fact that ESTPs pull no punches definitely repels some people, but it often attracts some loyal people too (Fe). That polarizing quality is characteristic of a third extroverted feeling function. Things either go one way or the other way.
Those who feel drawn to Trump like that he comes across as honest (Ti)! However, if he cannot take a step back to make decisions free from others’ bias (Ti), he becomes a tyrant.
That’s because he’d be unable to tell what’s true and what’s false. He’d either take in information from people because he “likes” them, or he’d impose his will completely on people, forcing them to bear the consequences of his poor decisions.
These are both expressions of a weakened extroverted feeling third function. This weakened expression is known as an extroverted sensing (Se) – extroverted feeling (Fe) loop. An Se-Fe loop.
To get out of this loop, the ESTP should focus on their second function, introverted thinking (Ti). They should always make room to step back and make accurate observations free of bias and external input.
Trump’s Extroverted Feeling (Fe)
- During the 24 hours after Trump was convicted, small donors rushed to give to his campaign. It raised over $53 million in that time span. The donation surge crashed the online giving platform (extreme loyalty & attraction).
- The jury was unanimous in their agreement that Trump was guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records (extreme repulsion).
4. Catastrophe-Prone
Introverted intuition (Ni) is the ESTP’s last and weakest function. Ni rears its head when the ESTP loses popular support (extroverted feeling) or loses belief in a dearly-held principle or structure (introverted thinking).
People who have introverted intuition as one of their two top functions tend to be visionary, purposeful, and controlled. They know what they want and they stick to it.
But it’s the ESTP’s weakest function. It only comes out under extreme stress.
Remember the saying, “When it rains, it pours.” That’s Ni in a nutshell for ESTPs.
Imagine the ESTP being in a catastrophe. Then imagine them making their own catastrophe worse by catastrophizing even more. It’s like being stuck in quicksand.
It’s the most unlucky the ESTP has ever felt in their life.
Trump’s Introverted Intuition (Ni)
- He’s declared bankruptcy countless times.
- After losing the 2020 election, he was alleged to have incited the fatal, disastrous, and unprecedented U.S. Capitol attack.
- He was not expected to lose his most recent court case; the case was rather weak and his defense could’ve been stronger.
Shadow Work For ESTPs
Dear ESTP, here’s the cheat code to keep your luck flowing. Engage your shadow side.
Even though your luck appears to never run out, you should be prepared for when it does. You should also do whatever you can to keep enjoying the fun, amazing, and on-the-edge lifestyle that you have built.
Here’s how. Work on minimizing the following traits:
1. Controlling
ESTPs tend to become very controlling right at the entry point of their catastrophe to try and stop it from happening. This is an expression of their shadow introverted intuition (Ni).
For example, it’s very possible that Trump falsified documents to suppress damaging information. He allegedly did this to influence the 2016 U.S. election. It appears to have been an elaborate scheme with many moving parts (Ni).
How can an ESTP survive and prepare for calamity?
Shadow Work For Introverted Intuition (Ni)
ESTPs should quietly and privately explore their shadow lead function, introverted intuition (Ni) by digging deep into their own psyche, either by themselves or with the help of others.
It’s about finding a way to relinquish control.
Possible activities include:
- Journaling.
- Therapy.
- Exploring personal beliefs with a spiritual or religious guide.
2. Domineering
To gain control of a worsening situation, the ESTP will become domineering. This is an expression of their second shadow function, extroverted feeling (Fe).
During extreme stress, the ESTP will impose their worldview on others. They will not be interested in “bringing people on board” or “building bridges,” which is what a healthy extroverted feeling (Fe) excels at.
Instead, they will focus on defining in-groups and out-groups. They will draw loyalty from in-groups who adhere to their worldview, and demonize out-groups.
Shadow Work For Extroverted Feeling (Fe)
Interact with a stranger who is very different from you, without bias. Listen to them as much as you can. Remember what you enjoyed about the conversation. Do this as often as you can!
Have A Blast, ESTPs!
The shadow work that ESTPs have to do is nothing like the fun and glamorous ESTP themselves.
The ESTP paradox is that they have to do this boring and unglamorous work to keep enjoying their fun daredevil lives!
Otherwise, their “luck” suddenly runs out, because what goes up must come down.
When we say that the ESTP’s luck has run out, it means that they weren’t paying close-enough attention to how things were changing around them. That’s because they were more interested in enjoying each moment of every day.
Shadow work allows you to pay attention and still have fun.
Begin with the top two shadow functions above (introverted intuition and extroverted feeling) and the rest will fall into place naturally.
Bon voyage in this journey called life, dear ESTP!
